Art rituals in motherhood
Art rituals in motherhood
A monthly letter sent by post — an invitation to explore motherhood through art, from painting and photography to poetry and film. Each letter holds one artwork and a personal interpretation shaped by the motherhood experience.
Subscription
Each month, you will receive:
A real physical letter in your postbox. It is an invitation to make time without your phone or social media, and instead to spend it on a little art ritual.
A carefully curated and printed piece of art — a painting, a photo, a poem, an excerpt from a book, or a link to a piece of art — a song, a video, an installation. The pieces are both modern and older.
Information about the piece of art and its origins, alongside my personal interpretation of the piece within the context of motherhood. You are welcome to reply with your own insights and thoughts.
A monthly letter with a selected work of art and a personal interpretation of motherhood.
About me
My name is Živilė Meškauskaitė-Gomes.
I have always been drawn to literature and art, yet motherhood revealed an entirely new dimension of both — one more intimate, sensitive, and rooted in daily life.
This project grew from a wish to share how art can illuminate what motherhood often leaves unsaid, and what I find myself uncovering in it, day by day. It helps me pause and reflect on the days of the unique experience of motherhood.
I live in Vilnius with my husband, our baby son, our dog, and a baby girl soon to join us.
